The Magician's Daughter

The Magician's daughter embodies the spirit of the Raven with hair as black as its feathers, cheeks as red as blood and skin as fair as alabaster. Italian Fairytales are rife with magical imagery of transformation. When I was travelling to Italy I became fascinated with the operatic nature of their fairy tales which are epic in proportions with many episodes of trials and travels. In the Raven, a variation upon the Snow White motif, a prince woos a Magician's daughter and their true love triumphs over tragedy and trauma. This painting affirms the power of love an purpose over the challenges of resistance. 12 x16 mixed media oil painting in a gold frame.
