Coyote Dream

In local indigenous mythology, Coyote was a very playful trickster animal who is credited with placing the stars in the sky and leaving a road of stars that is known as the milky way. This story gives us an example of making our own way and creating a powerful cosmic destiny for ourselves. I have a very personal connection to coyotes as they roam the edges of my town and I sometimes see them when I drive at night. An encounter with a coyote is always a powerful one as their dusty fur shines brightly back at me in my headlights. This painting reminds us that we can make our way and place our stars.
